Mike Flanagan’s Prime Video ‘Carrie’ Series Previews the Official Teaser

Over a year ago I shared my apprehensions on the Prime Video series Carrie that had been greenlit. “Carrie” is one of my favorite Horror movies, and movies period, and I’ve seen every adaptation of the Stephen King work, but I wasn’t too worried with Mike Flanagan being at the helm.

Now the official teaser has been released and I’m more excited than ever. The Carrie series follows misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer Howell) who has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). Following the sudden and untimely death of her father, Carrie is forced to deal with a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community along with the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, all the while dealing with the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers.

It’s clear Mike Flanagan is taking the elements of Carrie and updating it for a more modern time and I can’t wait to see what he does with it. There has not been a project of Mike Flanagan that I haven’t liked, so again, I’m too ready for this one. Told over eight episodes, the entire series premieres on Prime Video on October 7.
