Earlier this year I read Colleen Hoover’s book Verity and I know there’s some discourse about Colleen’s work but I could NOT put that book down. When I tell you I was running back home anytime I left so I could finish that book I mean it. I was so captivated and appalled by the story and couldn’t wait to see how it ended. My main reasoning for reading Verity in the first place is because I knew the feature film adaptation was coming out later this year and after watching the official trailer I am so hype for this movie.
With a screenplay by Nick Antosca and directed by Michael Showalter, “Verity” stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett. The film follows Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson) who gets hired by Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett) to ghostwrite novels for his bestselling author wife Verity (Hathaway), who’s unable to finish a very popular book series after an accident. While working on the book, Lowen stumbles upon a manuscript of Verity’s detailing personal and disturbing events of her life. Unable to stop reading, Lowen must decide what to do with this information while residing at the Crawfords’ home to work.
After watching the official trailer for “Verity” I can see many moments are ripped directly from the book which excites me and I’m so anxious to see how the movie handles the darker subject matter because there is quite a lot. As I was reading I was exclaiming out loud SO many times because I was genuinely gagged by what I was reading. I’m for sure going to do a review of this film when it comes out, so watch this space and my YouTube channel.
“Verity” comes to theaters October 2. Watch the official trailer for “Verity” in the video below.
