For almost 50 years Saturday Night Live, SNL, has been a beloved sketch comedy series that has been the birthplace for many successful and notable comedic actors with an outstanding production team and writers who have created and recreated iconic moments in pop culture. But have you ever wondered how SNL creator Lorne Michaels started it all?
Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Jason Reitman, “Saturday Night” takes viewers back to October 11, 1975 at 11:30pm for the premiere of SNL. “The film is “based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Full of humor, chaos, and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, we count down the minutes in real time until we hear those famous words.”
Gabriel LaBelle, Rachel Sennott, Cory Michael Smith, Ella Hunt, Dylan O’Brien, Emily Fairn, Matt Wood, Lamorne Morris, Kim Matula, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Braun, Cooper Hoffman, Andrew Barth Feldman, Kaia Gerber, Tommy Dewey, Willem Dafoe, Matthew Rhys, J.K. Simmons, Jon Batiste and Naomi McPherson make up the ensemble cast.
“Saturday Night” comes to theaters on October 11, 2024.
