Have you ever said to yourself, I really wish I could have a prequel to “Ted?” Now that wish is granted and Peacock is bringing a scripted series about the raunchy teddy bear Ted in the new year.

In 2012, Seth MacFarlane wrote and directed “Ted” starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and himself voicing Ted. The film follows John Bennett (Wahlberg), whose childhood wish of bringing his teddy bear to life came true, and now as an adult must choose between the relationship with his beloved childhood friend or his girlfriend. The sequel in 2015 took Ted on a road to fatherhood and now the prequel shows where the story all began.

According to the official synopsis, “It’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.”

Ted streams on Peacock on January 11, 2024.
