Who will survive a horror movie when all the cast is made up of Black people? It’s a common trope in the horror genre that Black people are the first to go and “The Blackening” will explore what happens when everyone is Black.

Perfectly coming to theaters on Juneteenth weekend, “The Blackening” is directed by Tim Story with a screenplay by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins. “The Blackening” follows seven Black friends who head to a cabin in the woods to celebrate Juneteenth and are forced to play a deadly game by a masked killer. Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji star in the film.

In the final trailer for “The Blackening” you can see some audience reactions from early screenings as well as new footage from the film.

“The Blackening” comes to theaters on June 16, 2023.
