Things are about to get “Delicate” for this upcoming season of American Horror Story. I would consider myself a hardcore fan of the FX series. I started watching in 2012 when Asylum was premiering then went back to watch the first season, which premiered the year prior. I’ve experienced the show in real-time at its height, the lulls, and everything in between. I wasn’t too satisfied with the past few seasons of AHS (since 2019) but I’m so invested in this series I’m going to watch it until it stops airing.
A reveal for Season 12 came on Monday, April 10 with the announcement that Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian would lead the upcoming season hinted to be called AHS: Delicate. In the teaser an eerie rendition of “Rock-a-bye, baby” is heard with children playing in the background as “Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are delicate” appears on the screen.
An article for The Hollywood Reporter revealed Kim’s role was written with her in mind and for the first time in the show’s history, the season will be written and showrun by a single writer, Halley Feiffer. Ryan Murphy, co-creator of American Horror Story, said season 12 is “ambition and unlike” anything done before. This season is also said to be influenced by Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition described as “a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.”
Roberts is considered an OG AHS cast member having first appeared in THEE best season Coven in 2013 for season 3 as Madison Montgomery and went on to appear in four other seasons. I’m sure she’ll deliver in this upcoming season, but actress isn’t the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Kim and isn’t she known for not liking horror things, so this is going to be interesting. Production for season 12 is set to begin in late April in New York City with a hopeful summer release.
