‘SNL’ Creates Mario Kart Dystopian World In Hysterical Sketch

One thing Saturday Night Live does well, really well, is create sketches that makes me wish they were real things about to come out. They did it in 2019 with an Oscar the Grouch live-action origin story with David Harbour that I still think about often. Now they created a Mario Kart dystopian world that looks better than anything the upcoming “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” teased.

SNL host for the weekend Pedro Pascal served as Mario in a Nintendo world that has turned into shambles because of Bowser (Kenan Thompson), much like the game. SNL cast member Heidi Gardner needed help transporting Princess Peach (Chloe Fineman) across Rainbow Road and enlists Mario to do so, but he couldn’t do it alone so Luigi (Mikey Day), Yoshi (Bowen Yang), and Toad (Marcello Hernández) helped along the way.

Pedro is the Mario I didn’t know I needed and this fictional series is everything I didn’t know I wanted.
