It’s that time of year when we reflect on how we’ve spent the last 12 months, but if you’re into pop culture like me then you look back on all the awesome content you consumed. Let’s be honest, that’s much more fun anyway thinking back on the ways TV shows and films shocked us, made us cry, infuriated us, gave us joy, and so many more emotions.

Last Friday I revealed Glambergirlblog’s Top 10 TV Shows of 2022 and as promised it’s now time to get into films. There were many films I watched this year on streaming, and in the theaters, and there are still so many waiting patiently on my watch list, but at the time of this post these are the films that piqued my interest the most.

I will tell you one thing, horror fans were winning in 2022. If you follow me on socials then you know horror is my favorite genre so many of the films on my list fall in that category. Looking back I’ve consumed a lot of film watching hours in 2022 and it was hard to narrow down a list of 10 films that I enjoyed the most, but here it is.

Glambergirlblog’s Top 10 Films of 2022

10. “Jurassic World Dominion”
There’s something about a legacy cast coming back together to a reboot that warms my heart. For three films Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard led the “Jurassic World” franchise as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing respectively. In the third and final film of the franchise OG “Jurassic Park” stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and BD Wong returned as Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Henry Wu. And just when I think I’m over the whole dinosaurs wreaking havoc concept, I’m pulled back in at the moment the film starts and I hear that iconic music.

9. “Do Revenge”
When things don’t go your way don’t be sad, “Do Revenge.” This Netflix original film follows Drea (Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Maya Hawke) making a deal to get revenge for each other by infiltrating each other’s enemies’ inner circle. You make think you know where this film is headed, but there’s a twist you won’t see coming. Add the brief yet hilarious role of Erica played by Sophie Turner and the stunning wardrobe this is a film that’s a fun watch.

8. “Orphan First Kill”
I can’t lie Esther is one of my favorite horror killers. Played by Isabelle Fuhrman in the 2009 film “Orphan,” Fuhrman returned in the prequel “Orphan: First Kill” which shows how Esther got into the U.S. posing as a child (she’s really a grown-ass woman with serious mental health issues) and the first family she brought chaos to, hence the title. If you can get over how old Esther looks because clearly the actress aged since the first film, you’ll enjoy how unhinged she is in this movie and her going against Julia Stiles’ Tricia Albright made this film such a thrill ride.

7. “Fresh”
Loving “Fresh” may be due to my everlasting Sebastian Stan crush, but a good movie is a good movie. Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones) has just about had it with the dating game and honestly, I can’t blame her. It’s for the birds out here. One day she meets Steve (Stan) at a grocery store and despite a cheesy pickup line the pair hit it off. Unbeknownst to Noa, Steve has “unusual appetites.” If you think you know what this movie is about then you’re right but it’s even more batshit than you can imagine and it’s so entertaining.

6. “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”
A new mystery must be solved by famed Southern detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) in the Rian Johnson written and directed film “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” With an all-star cast, Detective Blanc is placed in the midst of a murder mystery party where an actual murder occurs. It’s best to go into this movie with little info to enjoy the mystery being unfolded, but paying attention to detail has never been more crucial.

5. “The Black Phone”
A young boy, Finney Shaw (Mason Thames), is taken by The Grabber (Hawke) and trapped in a soundproof basement with an out-of-service phone stuck to the wall in “The Black Phone.” Finney starts to receive phone calls from The Grabber’s previous victims who come to his aid to make sure he won’t become another casualty. This movie had me on the edge of my seat as I was rooting for Finney to make it out of his circumstances. This movie is creepy, had some good jump scares, funny moments, and more.

4. “Chip ‘N’ Dale Rescue Rangers”
Stick with me on this one. I too am surprised this movie made it to this position on my list, but when I tell I enjoyed, smiled, and laughed so much watching “Chip ‘N’ Dale Rescue Rangers” I mean it. This movie is nostalgia overload splashed with modern twists that make it a memorable watch.

3. “Barbarian”
If you’ve been on social media since “Barbarian” hit streaming then you know the hold this film has on the horror community. It’s like when “Malignant” came out last year. This movie is the epitome of twists and turns! At no point did I know what was going to happen and when things did happen I couldn’t help but yell at my screen. “To me, that’s cinema.”

2. “Bones and All”
Bones and All” turned out to be an anticipated movie for me that I didn’t intend. Earlier this year I stumbled on the 2018 Variety Actors on Actors sit down with Timothée Chalamet and Emma Stone and fell in love with Timmy’s (as the kids call him) take on Hollywood. So I did what I do when I get obsessed with an actor, I comb through interviews and watch everything on their filmography that’s streaming. Paying attention to more updated news I realized Timmy had a new project coming out this year, Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All.” Deemed a cannibal love story, and rightfully so, the film follows Maren (Taylor Russell) and Lee (Chalamet) navigating life as two young cannibals who fall in love. The ending stuck with me hours…days… after I watched it.

1. “Triangle of Sadness”
Now, this is a movie I don’t think I would have ever seen if it wasn’t for the New York Film Festival, NYFF. This year I applied for press credentials to cover the NYFF on a whim because I saw “Bones and All” would be screened there and I got approved. YAY! The day I went to go see “Bones and All,” “Triangle of Sadness” was also on the list of films that would be shown that evening. I didn’t recognize any other name outside of Woody Harrelson, but the plot intrigued me. On IMDb, the plot reads “A fashion model celebrity couple join an eventful cruise for the super-rich,” but it’s so much more layered than that and so damn funny too. Every part of it is so good, but the third act is my favorite and that’s why it lands in my number one spot.
