The nominees of the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards have been revealed and it’s a pretty good bunch of nominations from stuff I actually saw and enjoyed this time around.

On Monday, December 12, Mayan Lopez and Selenis Levya, co-stars on NBC’s Lopez vs Lopez, announced Golden Globe nominees in 14 film and 13 TV categories during a presentation from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Eddie Murphy will be honored during the 2023 Golden Globes with the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award. Chosen by the HFPA Board of Directors, The Cecil B. deMille Award is presented to talent who have given major contributions to the entertainment industry. Past honorees include Jane Fonda, George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Sophia Loren, Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Robin Williams, and Tom Hanks.

Zendaya, Jenna Ortega, Selena Gomez, and Quinta Brunson were among the first-time Golden Globe nominees named with Abbott Elementary earning 5 nominations, the most in the television field followed by Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Only Murders in the Building, Pam & Tommy, and The White Lotus earning four nominations. “The Banshees of Inisherin” brought in the most film nominations with 8 noms and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” had the second most with 6.

Jerrod Carmichael is set to host the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards taking place on Tuesday, January 10 2023 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m on NBC and Peacock in a three-hour telecast live from The Beverly Hilton in California.
