It’s no question that Whitney Houston is one of the greatest voices of all time and the depiction of her life is no stranger to pop culture films, but the latest may celebrate her in a new light.
Naomi Ackie stars as Whitney Houston in “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” a biographical drama that is slated as “the joyous, emotional, heartbreaking celebration of the life and music of Whitney Houston, the greatest female R&B pop vocalist of all time. Tracking her journey from obscurity to musical superstardom.”
Directed by Kasi Lemmons, written by Anthony McCarten, and produced by the man who discovered Whitney, legendary music executive Clive Davis, Stanley Tucci plays Clive Davis, Ashton Sanders plays Bobby Brown, Tamara Tunie plays Cissy Houston, Nafessa Williams plays Robyn Crawford, and Clarke Peters plays John Houston.
“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” is slated to come to theaters on December 21, 2022.
