It’s been a long time coming. Back in June 2019 (I know right), HBO premiered its now critically-acclaimed original series Euphoria, a drama that looks at the raw lives of a group of high schoolers as they navigate life and the influences of drugs, sex, and violence have on their choices.

Zendaya stars as Rue Bennett, one of the main characters and struggles with depression and drug abuse. The role of Rue earned Zendaya her first Primetime Emmy award. The series also stars Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney with each episode focusing on a particular character’s journey.

It’s a pretty difficult show to really recap, but it’s worth a watch for the cinematography alone. It’s a beautifully shot and edited series and the ensemble cast is amazing!

Created and written by Sam Levinson, the second season comes to HBO in early January and the first official tease is here! The pandemic kept this show away from us long enough and I’m so glad it’s back.

Euphoria returns to HBO on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
