Three films. Three years. Three opportunities to fall for Peter Kavinsky.

To All The Boys: Always and Forever” dropped just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend this past Friday concluding the three film franchise: “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” (2018) and “To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” (2020). Lana Condor returned for the final time as Lara Jean Covey along with Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky. “Always and Forever” followed Lara Jean and Peter preparing to graduate from high school and making the choice of what college to attend. Is high school love truly forever or will the inevitable changes of life cause Peter and Lara Jean to break up?

It’s the last time for me to share my thoughts on the “To All The Boys” film so get into my breakdown of the good, the bad, and the feels. Spoilers ahead.

The Good
I find myself completely encaptured by this film franchise. The characters created by Jenny Han are easy to like because in a sense you can see yourself in them; especially Lara Jean who craves a love like the movies. With two movies in going into the third knowing it’s the last one; it was fun to zero in on the call backs throughout the franchise. I loved hearing Lauv’s “I Like Me Better” again, seeing Lara Jean’s blue love letter box gave me the feels, and the set up of another contract was sweet. The ending credits was a love letter to fans of the films recapping all the prominent moments with the backdrop of Peter and Lara Jean’s “song.” Very cute. I also loved the sisters aspect of the film. I have three sisters and I know how important it is to me to stay close to them so I understood Kitty’s feelings about her sister going away to college and the dynamic of the Covey sisters all together. All the moments between them were perfect.

The Bad
There weren’t that many bad parts of this film that immediately comes to mind, but one thing that seemed odd was all the scenes involving Peter and his father (Henry Thomas). Did I miss something when all of a sudden Peter’s dad came back into his life. The last time he was mentioned was in the first film right? In “Always and Forever” Peter’s dad is trying to make amends for walking out on his son. I applaud the efforts of Peter and his dad attempting to build their flawed relationship, but this part of the movie seemed misplaced. Like it was trying to get Noah more scenes with substance. It didn’t really add anything to the story.

The Feels
LJC +PK forever. One thing the “To All The Boys” franchise always delivers for me is the feels! Peter and Lara Jean’s relationship is sweet. I love how Peter and Lara Jean choose to spend time with one another and although it took him some adjusting to, Peter’s support of LJ going to NYU made me smile. Peter and Lara Jean’s love isn’t the only one that gave me the feels. Seeing Gen and Lara Jean interact throughout the film was nice. Sometimes old friends drift apart to come back together. Dr. Covey finding love again and getting married was a nice secondary story to the film. And although I wasn’t that interested in the Peter and his dad storyline it was heartwarming to see him try to forgive his dad.

If you saw the first two films then you have to watch the finale. It’s a cheesy, teen rom com, but that’s the charm. This isn’t a Oscar buzz type movie, but it’s cute and fun. “Always and Forever” wrapped the franchise up perfectly and didn’t leave any questions on that table, so kudos for that. I give “To All the Boys: Always and Forever ” two Glambergirlblog kisses 💋💋
