The Original ‘Saved by the Bell’ Cast Remix The Theme Song With Jimmy Fallon and The Roots Peacock Should NOT Have Remixed The Series

The Peacock streaming service premiered the Saved by the Bell reboot series at the end of last month on November 25th. I haven’t seen that many people talking about it but Jimmy Fallon is bringing some feels to the show.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the OG cast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez, and Elizabeth Berkley) was joined with Fallon and The Roots to perform a special rendition of the Saved by the Bell theme song. It was perfect and made me want to give the reboot a try.

Saved by the Bell, the 2020 version, as mentioned above is on the Peacock streaming service. There’s 10 episodes in the season with the first episode streaming free. (Premium accounts are $4.99 or $9.99 a month) I finally broke down to watch the 30 minute episode and I have some thoughts. The series opened with Zack Morris’ road to becoming the governor of California and honestly that was the highlight for me.

The series is more of a follow-up with some of the main characters from the original all grown up with kids of their own for a few. When funding goes down for a lot of low-income high schools, the students are sent to a number of wealthier schools – one of which is Bayside. Six new high schoolers become the central cast members and none of them are appealing to me. I feel the show is trying so hard to reference the original with the use of “preppy” and the “time outs.” It all seems so corny. The jokes and puns seemed forced, but there were a few parts I did chuckle at, but they all came from the original cast members.

Granted I only watched the pilot so the series could have gotten better more episodes in, but there’s no way I would pay for a Peacock premium to watch them. So yeah.
