At a young age Evie Theodorou knew she wanted to be in the spotlight. Growing up in her hometown of Missouri, watching television programs like Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place ignited the spark of stardom for the young starlet. Now traveling back and forth to California, Theodorou is living her dream as an actress and singer working on many exciting projects and inspiring her fans along the way. Glambergirlblog.com chatted with the teen all about starring in the upcoming web series The Adventures of Nancy Mindy, new music, and her sound as an artist.
“I would describe it [her sound] as something that’s different. Every single song is different, but it’s all connected in a way where I like to have a positive message in my songs or something that people can relate to in some way,” the singer said. Evie also mentioned her upcoming single. “I’m releasing a song, ‘You + Me’ really, really soon. We’re just finalizing everything and hopefully it will come out this early fall.”
While an entire EP is ready, releasing singles is the plan for Evie’s music. One song already out is “Always.” “It’s about who I am and I’m myself. I’m free to be myself. I can be who I want to be and no one can change who I am. I like to spread that message to be yourself to others. Many people do say that, but it’s harder than it looks sometimes to be yourself when other people are telling you to be someone who you’re not. I like to spread that message a lot to my fans and people who I meet. I put it in the song ‘Always’ that I’m born to be free. I’m able to be myself.”
Kacey Musgraves and Selena Gomez are two singers Theodorou cites as her musical inspirations and would love to work with them one day. She’s super stoked for new music from Gomez and admires how she was able to navigate music and acting. That’s something Evie wants to do as well. “I want to balance the two. It’s really hard to choose between both of them because I love both of them and I can’t imagine not doing one of them, but who knows what will come in in the future.”
One thing certain for the future is Evie’s web series The Adventures of Nancy Mindy where she plays the starring role. “Nancy Mindy is about a team. It follows Nancy Mindy going through her life and different obstacles. She has a job interview, some friends are jealous or she’s jealous. Everyone goes through something, but it’s a comedy so she looks at the world in a positive way. She’s the sweetest girl ever that I have ever like played, so I can’t wait for everyone to see,” Evie said about her series.
Evie finds herself relating to Nancy Mindy in how she’s always thinking about others. “She wants to help people all the time and I love to help people and spread certain messages to others. That’s a way that I can relate to her. While she’s going through things herself, no matter what, she always puts others first before her.” Talking to Evie anyone could tell her upbringing reflects in her work and that humility shows up in her music and in her acting; a notion attributed to her parents and the people surrounding her.
“I’m very close with my parents, so I talk to them about everything. I talked to my coaches and they always tell me that this industry can be scary at times and also being out in public and having many people follow you. It can be scary, but just be yourself, be a good role model and believe in yourself because you’re going to get many nos but it will get you closer to that one yes. I’ve always been told that, so that’s what I put out to others. That’s the best advice that I’ve gotten.”
For Evie’s fans, she leaves a heartfelt message. “To everyone; be yourself and believe in yourself no matter what people tell you or how to be. Just be yourself because you’re uniquely you and you’re wonderful.”
