I swear I live under a rock sometimes balancing the fine line of being active online and maintaining a sense of being present that I found out about the “Pet Sematary” remake about two weeks ago. At least. So when on social media yesterday I found out the official first trailer would be coming out today I knew I had to share it with my fellow horror lovers and Stephen King admirers.

In 1989 King’s novel was transformed into the film following the Creed family – mom and dad Louis and Rachel Creed (Dale Midkiff and Denise Crosby) and children Ellie and Gage (Blaze Berdahl and Miko Hughes – as they moved to an eerie new home in a spooky small town. When tragedy strikes the family, multiple times, the Creed’s neighbor Jud (Fred Gwynne) suggests an unusual method to cope to Louis. Whenever I think about the original a few names come to mind: CHURCH, GAGE, and ZELDA.

The remake seems to keep the same essence as the original with the main characters keeping their names as in the book and first film. Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz  step in as Louis and Rachel. Hugo Lavoie and Jeté Laurence play the children and John Lithgow plays the creepy neighbor Jud. In the trailer we see glimpses of the infamous pet cemetery, how dangerous the road next to the Creed house is [VERY IMPORTANT], children having some sort of ritual, and I think I seen a glimpse of the girl Zelda.

Sometimes dead is better.

Watch the first official trailer for “Pet Sematary,” expected in theaters April 5, 2019, in the clip below. Does it look like the trailer is doing the original justice? Share your thoughts in the comments.
