And another one bites the dust. What is going on over at Shameless? The ship is going down and everyone is getting off before the show goes completely underwater. Back in August star of the Showtime series Emmy Rossum, who plays Fiona Gallagher, announced the current 9th season would be her last. Today, another Gallagher sibling revealed next EPISODE would be his last. I mean..

Cameron Monaghan brought Ian Gallagher to the small screen as a series regular since the pilot back in 2011 and now he’s saying farewell to Ian Clayton Gallagher. In an Instagram message he posted on Monday, Oct. 8, Monaghan shared some photos with his on-screen brothers and cast mates along with a note announcing his soon departure. “I have been a series regular on this show for roughly ten years. I was the tender age of fifteen when we shot the pilot, and I came of age in so many ways, both legally and personally,” he started the message continuing, “I was very lucky to mature and grow with this show. Experiencing so many firsts, maturing as an actor, a professional, and a human. In the process gaining friends, family, and the best coworkers a very lucky actor could ask for, and for this I can be nothing but gracious.”

“All good things come to an end. An old cliche, but one that rings true with a sincerity and clarity especially in moments like these. Everything ends. The next episode will be my last. I have known since last year, but I didn’t want to give it away too early as I wanted this season to be a surprise for the audience, allowing them to experience Ian’s unsure journey with his character. This role has been a joy to inhabit, a wild and special ride, and I’d like to thank #Shameless as well as you, the viewers, for being there with him. Goodbye, Ian Clayton Gallagher. We’ll meet again?”

On September 30th, the show celebrated its 100th episode and will have its winter finale on October 21st and returns January 20, 2019 for the duration of the season; 7 more episodes. I say the show should just end with season 9 and have a TV movie to wrap everything up as a “10th season.” Boom. Done.
