India Arie once sang “I Am Not My Hair” and no words can be more true for Violet Jones in the upcoming Netflix film “Nappily Ever After” starring Sanaa Lathan.
Based on the novel of the same name written by Trisha R. Thomas, “Nappily Ever After” follows the seemingly flawless life of Violet Jones. She has everything. A loving, successful boyfriend, a booming career, and glorious hair that has maintained her sense of identity. An accident at the hair-dresser one day begins a downward spiral of Violet’s “picture perfect” life until she realizes it wasn’t that perfect to begin with. Making the “big chop,” Violet starts to live life the way it’s meant to be – fearlessly.
Ricky Whittle, Lyriq Bent, Ernie Hudson and Lynn Whitfield appear in the film alongside Lathan.
