The end is near, but will we survive? American Horror Story: Apocalypse has been announced as the official title for the upcoming 8th season of the horror anthology series out this fall.

Back in June Ryan Murphy confirmed my greatest wish that he would be revisiting season 3 of AHS, Coven, and combining it with the premiere season theme, Murder House, for the upcoming season. “The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year…because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER,” he tweeted.

With that in mind, the theme was yet to be confirmed until now. AHS: Apocalypse will feature already announced cast members like: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson and new to the franchise Joan Collins. Fans have been speculating that the story will revolve around the demon spawn of Tate Langdon and Vivian Harmon all grown up.

Ryan Murphy also mentioned on Twitter that all past witches were asked to come back for season 8, so we could possibly see Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Jamie Brewer, Taissa Farmiga, and Gabourey Sidibe return. And get this, Murphy told EW that a certain episode of AHS: Apocalypse will throw fans for a loop. “It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five.”

American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres Wednesday, September 12th on FX.
