Beyoncè became the first black woman to headline Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival in California over the weekend with an epic, anticipated performance that was pushed to this year; Bey was slated to headline last year but was pregnant with her twins.

The Beyhive was in full formation loving deeming the music festival as Beychella knowing queen Bey would be closing out Saturday night of weekend one. Luckily for those of us who weren’t in attendance, YouTube live streamed the entire festival, so around 2am EST I was able to watch the full performance and it was amazing! Bey did classics like “Crazy in Love” and “Check On It” along with new music off Lemonade like “Sorry” and “Freedom.” She took it back with “Partition,” “Diva,” “Who Run The Worlds (Girls)”, and “I Care.” She even did some of her features: “Top Off” and “Mi Gente.”

HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) pride was at the forefront of Beyoncè’s set with a huge marching band, band dancers, and bleachers to perform on. Bey even channeled historically Black Greek letter organizations by simulating a probate during her show making everyone want to enroll in whatever university/sorority/fraternity Bey was promoting. Dressed in Balmain, Bey kept the energy up for the two-hour set with intricate dance breaks, new remixes to her tracks, and special guests.

Before the night kicked off a Destiny’s Child reunion was rumored to be happening and the rumors were true. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams took the stage making them the first girl group to perform at Coachella. They went on to perform “Solider,” “Lose My Breath,” and “Say My Name.” DC weren’t the only surprises though. Jay Z joined the stage for “Deja Vu” and Solange danced alongside her sister on “Get Me Bodied;” reminiscent of when Bey danced with Solange on the Coachella stage back in 2014. (See photos from Beychella HERE)

It was a moment not to be missed and I’m glad, tired, but glad I stayed up to see the thing live streamed. Did you catch Beychella aka Beyoncè’s performance at the 2018 Coachella music festival on Saturday, April 14th?
