Famed Artist David Bowie Dies From Illness At 69

Famed artist David Bowie has passed away after battling cancer for a little over the past year at age 69. Bowie had a major role in shaping pop culture with work ranging in music and acting. His death obviously caused an out pour of condolences and praise for his contribution to his industry on social media.

On Sunday, January 10 2016, an announcement was shared on the David Bowie official Facebook page and read, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”

Bowie’s music has been featured in over 400 soundtracks and has over 40 acting credits attached to his name. He’s acted on Broadway and had noted songs like: “Under Pressure,” “Changes,” “Let’s Dance,” “Fame,” “Space Oddity,” “Heroes,” “China Girl,” “Fashion,” and “Rebel, Rebel.” His noted acting roles include: Ziggy Stardust from the 1972 film “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust” and Jareth the Goblin King in the 1986 film “Labyrinth.”

The ‘Life On Mars” singer, who just celebrated a birthday on January 8, leaves behind his wife of nearly 25 years model Iman and their daughter Alexandria, and his son from a previous marriage, director Duncan Jones.
