Over the weekend, the rap community mourned the loss of A$AP Yams.
In a statement, RCA records, the label Yams was signed to, said, “All of us at RCA Records are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of A$AP Yams. As one of the creative forces behind A$AP Worldwide, Yams’ vision, humor and dedication to the members of A$AP Mob will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”
A$AP Yams or Yamborghini, real name Steven Rodriguez, was a founding member of hip-hop collective A$AP Mob, that features rappers A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg.
No confirmed cause of death has been released. He was 26.
Members of A$AP Mob went to social media to address their feelings over losing the man who brought them all together. A$AP Rocky shared two photos of Yams on his Instagram page, one of the deceased with that read “R.I.P YAMS, I LOVE YOU BROTHER” [SEE BELOW], another had Yams and Rocky on stage with a fan with the words “R.I.P A$AP Yams” over the photo.
A$AP Ferg also shared several photos and sentiments of Yams on social media. One image showed Ferg and Yams on stage with the caption, “You were the brilliant mind ,you put us on Game , you changed our lives. You changed my life , you changed the world.
R.i.P YAMZ there can never be another one after you .#asapworldwide #asapferg #yamborgini #yamz” [SEE BELOW].
Other members of the rap community like: Drake, Chance the Rapper, 2Chainz, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, shared their condolences online.
RIP A$AP Yams. Thoughts and prayers goes out to his loved ones during this difficult time.
