February is the special month in which we honor and celebrate African-Americans, past and present, for all their accomplishments in a variety of fields: music, television, film, fashion, business and so much more. Here at Glambergirlblog we want to do things a little bit different. Everyday throughout this month we will spotlight some of the glamberous African-Americans in the entertainment industry.

Despite the troubled upbringings, the tabloid fiascos and bleached white skin Michael Jackson was and will forever be the King of Pop and one of the most successful music artist in the African-American community.

We all know the story, I mean how many times have you see The Jackson 5 movie; I’ve honestly lost count. From a very early age, music was deeply rooted in the upbringings of Michael and his brothers. The boys were strictly disciplined to become music legends; which really paid off. With such hits like “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There;” the boys were the heart-throbs of the 1970’s; but Michael was destined for bigger things.

At the young age of 13, Michael embarked on his solo career but it wasn’t until his Off the Wall album debuted that the industry really took him serious. “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough” landed Michael his first Grammy and the hits kept on rolling. MJ released chart-topping single after chart-topping single; recorded legendary mini movie music videos, won countless music awards and built an iconic career.

Sadly, the death of the star in 2009 from an accidental overdose left a void in the industry. The legacy of the singer lives on in his children, his music and that infamous moonwalk. Fall in love with MJ all over again with this mini bio below.

Fun Fact About Michael Jackson: Michael Jackson has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one for himself and one as part of the Jackson Five.
