Actor Sherman Hemsley Dies at 74

Actor Sherman Hemsley, most known for his role as George Jefferson from “The Jeffersons,” has passed away at the age of 74.

On Tuesday, July 24, TMZ reported that the actor died at his home in El Paso, Texas. At the moment no cause of death has been released.

Hemsley, born in Philadelphia, PA was an accomplished actor with roles not only in “The Jeffersons” but in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “The Hughleys.” Hemsley was also a singer with an R & B album under his belt, “Dance”.

 “The Jeffersons” was way before my era but I remember Hemsley fondly from the 1985 film “Alice and Wonderland.” Hemsley played the mouse and I still remember every word to “I Hate Dogs and Cats.”
