Sad news for disco lovers today. Disco legend Donna Summer has succumbed to her battle with cancer and passed away Thursday morning, May 17, at the age of 63.
Summer’s family released a statement acknowledging that they were at peace and would celebrate her “extraordinary life and her continue legacy.” The statement continued by saying, “Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.”
For those of you who do not know the 5-time Grammy winner Donna Summer; she is the powerhouse voice behind some of disco’s greatest classics like Last Dance, Hot Stuff and Love to Love You Baby. She had such an effortless, beautiful voice and I’m sure she will be deeply missed. RIP to the Queen of Disco.
