Renée Zellweger Leads An Outstanding Cast In The Absolutely Entertaining ‘The Thing About Pam’

Renée Zellweger completely transforms in NBC’s The Thing About Pam. 

I honestly had no idea this show was out. I saw zero promos for it, but it was highlighted as a recommended show when I logged into Hulu this week so I figured I check it out.

The true-crime series stars Zellweger as Pam Hupp. The show is based on the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria that resulted in her husband Russ’ conviction. Russ was not the culprit and was later exonerated leading to a chain of events that revealed Hupp’s involvement. The events of this case were highlighted in the 2019 “The Thing About Pam” podcast and examined on Dateline NBC. 

Alongside Zellweger, Josh Duhamel, Judy Greer, Katy Mixon, Glenn Fleshler, Gideon Adlon, Sean Bridgers, Suanne Spoke, and Mac Brandt star in the 6-episode saga. The structure of this show is one of my favorite tropes. It has narration, what is perceived to happen vs. what actually happened, court drama…it has everything. My only flaw is that I can’t binge. This would work so much better for me as a binge than a weekly release, but I’m invested. Three episodes are out now and I can’t wait to see how this ends.

The Thing About Pam airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC and streams the next day on Hulu and Peacock.
