Dave Chappelle served as this weekend’s Saturday Night Live host with musical guest A Tribe Called Quest and it was everything fans of Chappelle could hope for with him back on the stage.

Following a touching cold open with Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton performing “Hallelujah,” a tribute to the late Leonard Cohen, Chappelle did a monologue true to his Chappelle Show days. He talked about the presidential election results, the Black Lives Matter movement, and more.

The best sketch from Chappelle had to be when he brought back some of his beloved characters from his Comedy Central series. With the backdrop of a spoof of The Walking Dead, Tyrone Biggums, Clayton Bigsby, Chuck Taylor, The Playa’s Hater’s Club people, and Lil Jon return for audience delight. It was so good to see Chappelle still had his comedic chops, but it only made me want the Chappelle Show back more than ever.

Watch Dave Chappelle bring back some of his beloved Chappelle Show characters in this Walking Dead skit from SNL and his opening monologue in the clips below. Share your thoughts in the comments.
