I’m a Family Guy fan but I was never a devoted one. I was the type that caught on to the season late, watched reruns and didn’t really get into the new episodes but I admit this still shocked me.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane decided to kill off Brian Griffin, the beloved family dog and one of the voices he does for the series on Sunday night’s episode.

So how did Brian go? He was hit by a car and the Griffin family weren’t the only people distraught by the news of Brian dying. Fans of the show were really upset, or should I say pissed, that Brian, who has been a main character in the series since its first air date in 1999, was killed off the show.

A petition on Change.org called, “Seth MacFarlane, and Fox Broadcasting Company: Bring Brian Griffin back to Family Guy” has reached 1,500 signatures hours after the episode aired. Over on Facebook, a fan page, “R.I.P Brian Griffin from Family Guy,” was created and reached over 100,000 likes.

I can imagine the pain devoted fans of Family Guy feel. I was distraught when Carlisle Cullen faked died in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2,” so I can only imagine a real death of a beloved character. Maybe this is some type of “Inception” thing going on.

Are you sad to see Brian Griffin killed off the show?
