Hello Glamberous Ones,

I hope you all got a chance to see “The Conjuring” this weekend; if not, have no fear, Glambergirlblog.com is here to give you the real low down on the horror film that premiered in theaters on Friday, July 19 and has been described as “scary as hell.”

TRAILER THURSDAY: THE CONJURING

“The Conjuring” follows the story of real-life Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The Warren’s are used to paranormal activity but when they begin to work with the supernatural spirits in Carolyn and Roger Perron (Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston) home; The Warren’s suspect something greater than they ever encountered could really harm The Perron family.

Now that you have that prerequisite on the film, let me give you my take on it. [I’ll try to be spoiler free] The film opened with The Warrens speaking with two girls who were experiencing a demonic spirit in their home that they believed was in a creepy ass doll but The Warrens explained that those spirits don’t inhabit things but people and that the object that people think they inhabit are basically a decoy. We (the audience) saw creepy things happening with the women and the doll and then some words appeared on the screen talking about The Warrens, what they do and what we were about to see was a case that scared them so much that they never shared it until now.

It took quite some time for The Warrens to meet The Perron family, which consists of five girls including Renesmee and Ramona Quimby. Little things started to freak The Perron family out before they contacted The Warrens like: all the clocks stopping at 3:07am every night, the girls were seeing things and the doors were banging around. The Warrens weren’t contacted until one of the demonic spirits in the home attacked the eldest daughter.

Upon The Warrens arrival, Lorraine instantly felt the spirit attached to the family and knew they were in danger. The film progresses slowly but surely and was shot beautifully. The color scale was ideal for the time period portrayed, the ’70’s, and the cuts were clean and built suspense. Since I am a hardcore movie lover, I know what things to look for in regards to those “jump” moments so I could anticipate when “something” was about to happen. I didn’t face too many “jump” moments but I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my body as The Warrens tried to rid the family, and later themselves, from the evil spirits.

Overall, “The Conjuring” is a film that will have you guessing and keeps your attention the entire time. Once it gets going, it goes, all the way to the not so pleasing ending. I wish it would have ended on a different note but maybe the DVD will have an alternative ending for Hollywood purposes. With that being said, these are the #ThingsTheConjuringTaughtMe

1. Never live in remote places away from everyone and everything

2. Trust when the pets start freaking out it’s time to go

3. Don’t ask spirits in your house to stay; don’t even acknowledge them

4. Do not investigate strange sounds in your house

5. And lastly, DON’T play hide and clap EVER!
