Get ready to dodge those slushies Gleeks because I have something equally as shocking coming your way.

Glee star Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on the hit FOX series, “has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction.”

People exclusively learned from the actor’s rep that Cory, 30, is taking control of his addiction and is asking the media to take it easy with his decision. His rep said, “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”

This isn’t Cory’s first battle with substance abuse. In 2011 during an interview Cory admitted to entering rehab at the age of 19. In that interview he said, “I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too.”

So how is Cory’s girlfriend and fellow Glee star Lea Michele handling this? The best way someone can in this situation; she released a statement saying, “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”

What’s your take on Glee’s Cory Monteith checking into rehab? Are you surprised? Will this affect his role on Glee?
