The 82nd Golden Globes Awards kicked off awards show season live on Sunday, January 5 on CBS and Paramount+ at 8pm EST with host Nikki Glaser. The ceremony which awards the best in television and film from the past year, also celebrated two of Hollywood’s established actors with special awards at a separate ceremony. Viola Davis received the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ted Danson earned the Carol Burnett Award.

Comedian Nikki Glaser dazzled the audience and viewers at home with a 10 minute opening monologue lightly poking fun at nominees and the films up for awards.

Many thought Ariana Grande would be a shoe in winner for her supporting role in “Wicked,” but Zoe Saldaña took home the Globe for “Emilia Pérez” instead. Both ladies were nominated for the first time. “Emilia Pérez” in general was a big winner of the night taking home awards for Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language, Best Original Song — Motion Picture, and Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy. “The Brutalist” also scored multiple awards during the night in the Best Director — Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama, and Best Motion Picture — Drama categories.

On the TV side, Hacks dominated in their categories. Shōgun and Baby Reindeer were viewer faves to win and The Bear is still scratching heads as Comedy category win. I was happy to see Demi Moore win for “The Substance” because I really enjoyed her performance, but all the others were meh for me. Except for Sebastian Stan because I love him, but these awards are still someone’s dreams coming true so I can smile at the excitement for any win.

Congrats to all the 2025 Golden Globes winners
