Netflix’s action drama “Atlas” premiered May 24 on the streaming service with Jennifer Lopez starring in the Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite written and Brad Peyton directed film. The movie, which remained as a top trending flick on Netflix for weeks, follows Lopez as Atlas Shepherd, a military data analyst with a distrust of artifical intelligence following a traumatic incident from her childhood involving her scientist mother Val Shepherd (Lana Parrilla) and the AI she created Harlan (Simu Liu).

When Harlan starts an android revolution with the belief that humankind is better destroyed, Atlas reluctantly aligns up with Colonel Elias Banks (Sterling K. Brown) and his team of Rangers to track Harlan and stop his catastrophic plan.

Actress Adia Smith-Eriksson (Barry, “Old Man Rush”) plays the outspoken Ranger West in “Atlas” who is enlisted on the team to track Harlan. “Atlas” is packed with action and one scene in particular will catch viewers by surprise. Adia shared with Glambergirlblog what is was like shooting that sequence saying, “I mean, it was a lot of fun. It kind of felt like one of those Disney attractions when you’re on the ride and they kind of strap you in. It was similar to that ’cause I was on a platform and it had a hydraulic system and so it’s all moving and you’re kind of like, I got it, trying to be in the moment. It’s all green screen, so you have to really kind of imagine that like, okay, I’m in this place, I’m doing this thing. But it was a lot of fun, honestly.”

Later Adia shared the challenging aspects of working with green screen and CGI. “Just trying to create this world in your head and be in that moment and make it believable so that you, the audience also see it and you’re like, whoa, they’re really in space being attacked,” she shared, adding, “I think that, Brad, the director, did a really good job of making his directions, making sure that we were kind of giving that right energy. And I think also just the fact that you’re moving at the same time really does make it believable. You get your adrenaline pumping and you really feel like, okay, no, I’m really in danger right now, although I never was in actual danger. So I think all of those pieces kind of come together and it just makes it into this fun experience and then when you get to see it after it’s all done, it’s just like, wow, we did that. We made that.”

“Atlas” is streaming now on Netflix.
