Power fans listen up because this news about the sixth and final season may bother some of you. I know it sure did rattle me. Although the show stopped peaking my interest after season 3, I’m still very much invested in the series to see how it concludes.

Back in May it was announced that the Courtney Kemp created, 50 Cent executive produced series would be coming to an end with the sixth season and the usual early summer premiere would be pushed back to the end of August. Some good news did come with a delayed season. Instead of the usual 10 episodes, the final season would be extended to 15.

During the Television Critics Association press stop, Starz announced the 15 episodes would be broken down into two parts. The first 10 episodes will run consecutively through November with the remaining episodes airing in early 2020.

50 Cent also shared some changes will be coming with the iconic “Big Rich Town” theme song of the show. Instead of Joe singing on the 50 Cent rapped track, Trey Songz will be replacing him. Why? “We wanted to offer a new energy without conceptually changing it,” the rapper said, adding, “I even left four bars with the previous song because I was afraid to go [too far] away from it. It’s giving it a younger, fresher, vibe.” *Heavy Eye Roll* Why touch a classic?

Mary J. Blige was also announced as the first actor to star in the Power spin-off series, Power Book II: Ghost. The show is in pre-production with no additional details about the spin-off revealed.

The sixth and final season of Power premieres Sunday, August 25 and will wrap in 2020.
