The year is set and the wait will be unbearable for HBO has finally confirmed after much speculation that the series finale of their award-winning, iconic show Game of Thrones won’t be until 2019. No further date has been released. I swear to the gods, old and new, I’m not sure how I will get through this without having crazy withdrawals.

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss told Entertainment Weekly last summer that they plan on spending a year and a half creating the final episodes to ensure a memorable finale that will make devoted fans of the series as satisfied as possible. Last fall the cast had a table read that got one cast member in particular emotional. Kit Harington, aka Jon Snow, revealed on Tory Max that he cried. “We had the read through last week in fact so I know everything now,” he teased. “But I cried at the end. It wasn’t anything in particular that happened I just, you have to remember 8 years of it. I think no one really cares about it more than us.”

Even Jason Momoa, aka Khal Drogo, teased how epic the finale will be. “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f— up a lot of people,” he told EW. Shooting for the final season is rumored to start this summer.

GOT season 8 will have 6 episodes that will wrap up the show and despite previous reports each episode will not be feature film length, but some will be longer than others. Either way I’m sure it will be EPIC and I’ll try to be as patient as possible.

How will you survive the Game of Thrones wait? Who will end up on the iron throne? Share all your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
