Stephen Colbert Set To Replace David Letterman On ‘The Late Show’

Last week David Letterman announced that in 2015 he would be retiring from late night hosting and leaving The Late Show.

Late night television lovers were in the midst of guessing who would take over that slot and now the guessing game is over. Say hello to Stephen Colbert – the new host of The Late Show! 

On Thursday, it was announced that Colbert and CBS finalized a five-year deal securing his slot replacing Letterman when he retires from the show next year.

In a statement The Colbert Report host said, “Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career. I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead. I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”

CBS President Les Moonves said, “Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television. David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”
