I was so excited to watch “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” back in 2023 because I grew up playing Super Mario on Nintendo. That movie was my childhood come to life and I enjoyed every moment, but I didn’t feel a sequel was needed although it had that tease of Yoshi at the end. Now I stand corrected because after watching the latest trailer for the film that teases the first look at Yoshi I am so sat for this sequel.
In “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” Chris Pratt returns to voice Mario and so does Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. This time the familiar characters are taking on a new galaxy and have new friends join in on the adventure as Mario ventures into space. I thought the first movie did a great job including many components of the video game and this sequel appears to be following suit including new elements that literally made me yelp with glee as I watched them pop up in the trailer. I got my Mario coins ready for this one.
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” comes to theaters April 1, 2026. Watch the first look at Yoshi in the clip below.
