Based on the first novel Stephen King ever wrote, published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, “The Long Walk” is set in a dystopian society where an annual competition known as The Long Walk places a group of young men in a contest where they must walk or die. There’s one winner and no finish line as the Walkers must maintain a speed of at least 3 MPH and are issued three warnings before they are eliminated and shot by soldiers. And the winner will be granted one wish and lifetime of riches.

With a Screenplay by JT Mollner and directed by Francis Lawrence – who did a few of “The Hunger Games” movies, Cooper Hoffman, David Jonssan, Judy Grier, and Mark Hammill are some of the actors that appear in the film. Below is a spoiler free review of “The Long Walk,” but one thing to know before going in is how deeply bleak the film is. It’s like how I felt watching “Blink Twice,” I enjoyed it, but man is the subject matter heavy. So here’s your fair warning.

“The Long Walk” is now playing in theaters.
