The New ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Trailer Teases More of Julie and Ray’s Return

This summer karma is out to get a group of friends and it’s going to get deadly.

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and written by Sam Lansky & Robinson with the story by Leah McKendrick & Robinson, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” follows five friends (Tyriq Withers, Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, and Sarah Pidgeon) who inadvertently cause a deadly car accident and attempt to cover up their involvement by making a pact to keep it a secret. A year later, the friends begin getting stalked and terrorized by someone who know what they did and is hell-bent on revenge. So, basically the plot of the original. I guess the twist is the friends discover this happened before (WHY does this keep happening) and seek help from the two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997, Ray and Julie (Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt).

The new trailer for “I Know What You Did Last Summer” gives a little more context of the accident that happened to the group of friends and where they go to recruit Julie and Ray for help. Julie even gave her iconic “what are you waiting for line” in this new trailer. While she didn’t say it which as much enthusiasm as when she originally said it, it still brought a smile to my face. They just better not do the legacy characters dirty.

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” comes to theaters July 18.
