‘Sinners’ Movie Review: Overhyped or Cinema Perfection

Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” still has movie theaters packed since it’s April 18th release. The film starring Michael B. Jordan taking on a dual role as twins Smoke and Stack takes viewers to Mississippi 1932 where the brothers return home from Chicago with a duffle of cash wanting to open a juke joint. Assembling a group of friends and loved ones to provide music, food, and security, the night is setting up to be one to remember, but not in the way they are planning. Hailee Steinfield, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Yau, Li Jun Li, Omar Miller, Delroy Lindo, Saul Williams, Peter Dremimanis, and Lola Kirke make up the ensemble cast.

“Sinners” has received high praise from critics and movie goers stating it’s the best film of the year and for many the best film they’ve seen in the past decade, but is the film being over hyped or is “Sinners” truly cinema perfection?
