In the Peacock Original crime drama Long Bright River, Philadelphia police officer Mickey, played by Amanda Seyfried, searches for her addict sister who has gone missing while navigating a string of murders that seem to target vulnerable and displaced women in the community. The gritty 8 episode series follows the power struggle Mickey has with her department along with the personal demons she’s battling. One person who becomes a helpful figure in Mickey’s life is Detective Danjarat, played by Joe Daru.
First appearing in episode 2 of Long Bright River, Detective Danjarat serves as a voice of hope for Mickey and an unexpected aide. Joe Daru shared what it was like to work alongside Seyfried in the series. “She’s such a lovely person. I know people probably say this often, right? But like, the whole culture around our set was really good. And I think a lot of that…it comes from the top. So if you’re number one is, you know, very personable and nice and kind. I feel that like, that trickles down to everybody,” Daru said.
He added, “And also, like the show runner, Nikki [Toscano], the co-creator Liz [Moore], who also wrote the book, they’re very lovely people to be around. So I feel like that kind of sets the culture of how the set goes.”
During a chat with Glambergirlblog, Joe also talked about he went from professional baseball to acting, his thoughts on binge watching and how directing benefited his acting. Watch the full interview with Joe Daru in the clip below.
