‘Running Point’on Netflix Is The Sports Comedy Series I Didn’t Know I Needed TV RECOMMENDATIONS

Although Running Point on Netflix was on my February watch list I didn’t get around to watching it until this month. Created by Ike Barinholtz, Mindy Kaling, Elaine Ko, & David Stassen, Running Point premiered on Netflix on February 27. It stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, the only daughter in the infamous Gordon family who are the backbone of the LA Waves basketball team. Her brothers Cam (Justin Theroux), Sandy (Drew Tarver), and Ness (Scott MacArthur) all have pivotal roles in the Waves dynasty but it’s Isla who gets appointed President when her brother Cam has to step down after a publicity nightmare. Determined to prove herself worthy, Isla surprises herself as she becomes the best thing that happened to the franchise in years.

Other key players in the show include Isla’s fiancé Lev (Max Greenfield), her assistant and half brother Jackie (Fabrizio Guido), Chief of Staff and Isla’s bestie Ali (Brenda Song), team coach Jay (Jay Ellis), and team players (Dane DiLiegro, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, and Uche Agada). The comedy lands so well in Running Point and focuses not only on basketball, but what it takes to climb the ranks in a male dominated industry. The entire cast is so funny and I can see so much potential on where this show could go. Luckily it was announced earlier this month that season of Running Point is on the way.

All 10 episodes of Running Point are streaming on Netflix.
