10 years ago, the finale episode of Fox’s musical teen comedy Glee aired. For six seasons from 2009-2015 viewers avoided slushes to the face as they watched the New Directions glee club from William McKinley High School tackle academics and sing their hearts out vying to win trophies and respect from their peers. Under the helpful eye of Mr. Schuester, Kurt, Rachel, Artie, Santana, Tina, Mercedes, Finn, Puck, Brittany, Sam, Quinn, Mike, and countless others made us all proud to be Gleeks. The show gave us countless memes, hilarious reaction videos to use, and of course amazing music.

For the 10th anniversary of the Glee finale, I share 10 memorable performances that either made me laugh, applaud, or sing along loudly. Check them out ranked below and share which performance stood out to you the most in the comments.

10. “Push It” (Season 1, Episode 2) – The glee club became one when they performed “Don’t Stop Believin’” in the pilot episode back in 2009, but it was the “Push It” performance in the second episode that made me want to root for them more than ever. Taking a chance to put a spin on a Hip Hop song was a bold move and to perform it in front of their peers with so much confidence.  Everyone’s reaction is just gold.

9. “Afternoon Delight” (Season 2, Episode 15) – Season 2 of Glee is the best. The show found its groove and the music got bigger and better in this season. A key plot of Glee is all the cutaways to the other cast when a scene is going on. A lot of times the best moments happen in the background and the performance of “Afternoon Delight” is one of them. Emma unknowingly proudly sings a song about sex with the celibacy club making is not only a funny moment, but it gave other voices like Quinn an opportunity to shine.

8. “Hand Jive” (Season 4, Episode 5) – One of the rare moments that I actually vibed with the newer cast members was in this performance. “Grease” is one of the greatest musical movies of all time and “Hand Jive” is always a part in the film that gets me hype. This performance did a good job of incorporating key moments from the film while showing off the vocals of the new cast. That “oh yeah” part at the end goes so hard.

7. “Rumor Has It/ Someone Like You” (Season 3, Episode 6) – When Mercedes had her last straw of being overlooked in New Directions she left to form an all-girl choir called The Troubletones with Santana, Brittany, and others with Shelby Corcoran leading the group in season 3. Santana and Mercedes are great singers, and their voices are butter together. When they performed an Adele mash up of “Rumor Has It/ Someone Like You” fans rejoiced and so did I.

6. “Don’t Rain on My Parade” (Season 5, Episode 9) – There’s no denying that Naya Rivera was a true stand out on Glee. Any time she was on screen as Santana was a vibe. There weren’t enough moments of her having a solo, but when she did she did it extremely well. In the show Rachel’s idol was Barbra Streisand and the song “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the 1964 musical ‘Funny Girl’ was her anthem. The true way to get under Rachel’s skin was to be better than her and Santana took her song and slayed. I get chills hearing her version.

5. “Toxic” (Season 2, Episode 2) – The ‘Britney/Brittany’ episode of Glee is hands down my favorite episode. I remember watching it when it aired and getting my life watching all the classic Britney Spears songs get the Glee treatment. Heather Morris really got to show off her dancing background in this episode and I just love to watch her dance. Towards the end of the episode Mr. Shue decides to give the glee kids what they want, and they perform a Britney song during an assembly that leads to a hilarious sex riot. Although the unholy trinity’s rendition of “Toxic” in season 5, episode 12 was epic, this version still remains my top.

4. “Me Against The Music” (Season 2, Episode 2) – As mentioned above, season 2 of Glee is my favorite and the ‘Britney/Brittany’ episode is one that keeps giving. There really wasn’t a miss in that one. I think “Me Against The Music” is an ok song, but when Santana and Brittany performed it the song got amplified. They did such a good job recreating the essence of the video and looked amazing doing so.

3. “Blame It (On The Alcohol)” (Season 2, Episode 14) – This may be a curve ball for some, but please get into it. The glee kids get really wasted together, and for some it’s the first time. They end up being a cautionary tale for teen drinking and butcher a gym performance, but despite it all they gave a great rendition of Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It (On The Alcohol).” When the other voices on the show get to shine, i.e a song without Rachel leading, they are usually my favs, no shade.

2. “4 Minutes” (Season 1, Episode 15) – Kurt and Mercedes make the culture, and they did so well in their performance of “4 Minutes.” Overlooked and in need of wanting something more, Kurt and Mercedes joined the Cheerios much to Sue Slyvester’s delight in her prolonged quest to destroy the glee club. An assembly performance revealed a revamped Cheerios squad with Kurt and Mercedes lending vocals. Madonna’s “4 Minutes” is already a great song to me, but it’s something about the live band, Kurt and Mercedes singing, and again the choreography. Yes, the vocals slay on Glee, but the choreo goes off too.

1. “Singing In The Rain/ Umbrella” (Season 2, Episode 7) – One of the things Glee did so well was a mash up. You know when a DJ finds the perfect mix and you can’t help but make a stern face of delighted approval. It’s like that. One of my favorites is the “Singing In The Rain/ Umbrella” moment in season 2. The choreography is so great and on point in the rain with umbrellas and whenever Gwyneth Paltrow’s guest starring character Holly Holliday showed it you know you were in for a good episode. All her guest spots were good, but this was my favorite and made for my number one spot.
