My algorithm on YouTube always suggests the latest horror movies to me, but when I saw “Until Dawn” on the right side of my screen for suggested trailers to check out next I didn’t pay it any mind. And when I saw it on my Twitter feed I scrolled right on by, but last night when watching Tubi an interesting trailer ran as an ad. I couldn’t look away. I thought it was a Tubi Original until the title came up and it was “Until Dawn.”
Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Blair Butler & Gary Dauberman, “Until Dawn” is inspired by the 2015 PlayStation 4 video game. In the film, Clover (Ella Rubin) and her friends Nina (Odessa A’zion), Max (Michael Cimino), Megan (Ji-young Yoo), and Abel (Belmont Cameli) go searching for her missing sister Melainie (Maia Mitchell). While taking refuge at a house in a remote valley they are all murdered by a masked killer by the end of the night. But here’s the thing, they wake up back on the same night doomed to be brutally slaughtered again and again. To survive they must … you’ve guessed it … make it until dawn. I love a time loop movie so count me seated for this one.
“Until Dawn” comes to theaters on April 25, 2025.
