‘SNL’ Spoofs Popular YouTube Series Pop the Balloon with ‘Chappelle Show’ Characters

Dave Chappelle returned to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host the sketch comedy series for the fourth time with musical guest GloRilla. Opening the show, Chappelle performed a stand up style monologue talking about recently passed former president Jimmy Carter, the LA fires, Diddy’s legal mess, and more. Later in the show he brought some of his infamous Chappelle Show characters with a twist.

Popular YouTube dating series Pop the Balloon or Find Love brings together singles hoping to find love with host Arlette Amuli. A single is set up with a line of potential suitors and if you are not interested you pop the balloon or you hold on to it hoping to land a match. SNL flawlessly depicted what the show is about in a hilarious sketch with Ego Nwodim as the host and cast members Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman, Jane Wickline, and Ashley Padilla as a group of women hoping to find love with bachelors Dave Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings (special guest), cast members Kenan Thompson, Andrew Dismukes, and Devon Walker.

Chappelle appeared as his Playa Haters’ persona Silky Johnson alongside Rawlings’ Beautiful character. Rawlings later appeared again in the skit as another familiar Chappelle Show character, Ashy Larry.
