Osgood Perkins is solidifying himself as a sought after horror king, I mean it is in his blood. It was bound to happen. Fresh off the success of 2024’s “Longlegs,” Perkins is coming back strong with “The Monkey,” based on the 1980 horror short story by Stephen King.
In “The Monkey,” Theo James pulls double duty as twin brothers Bill and Hal. The brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey toy that use to belong to their father and is the source of a string of gruesome deaths. Twenty-five years later, the monkey resurfaces and the brutal killings start again forcing the estranged Bill and Hal to reunite to confront the cursed toy and how it shattered their family. Elijah Wood, Sarah Levy, Tatiana Maslany, Laura Mennell, Colin O’Brien, Christian Convery, Rohan Campbell, and Perkins are featured as cast in the film.
The trailer is pretty gory and that’s right up my horror loving alley. “The Monkey” comes to theaters on February 21, 2025. Watch the official redband trailer below.
