There are few sequels that surpass the original and “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” is one of those perfect examples. The film stars Whoopi Goldberg as Las Vegas showgirl Deloris Van Cartier who was on the run from mobsters in the original film that came out in 1992 and sought out refugee in a convent under the moniker of Sister Mary Clarence. In the sequel, released in December 1993, Whoopi got back in the habit to teach music to a group of Catholic students whose run-down school is slated for closure.

Alongside Goldberg, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ryan Toby, Tanya Blount, Monica Calhoun, Deondray Gossfield, Deedee Magno, Maggie Smith, Barnard Hughes, Mary Wickes, Michael Jeter, Lauryn Hill, Alanna Ubach, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ron Johnson, and Devin Kamin were among the cast in “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.”

It’s safe to say that “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” made such an impact on pop culture so the cast reuniting on The View with Whoopi to celebrate the 30th anniversary is pretty iconic. Many of the original cast members appeared on the talk show to discuss the impact the film had and performed two of the legendary songs from the film with students from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. Oh happy day indeed!
