It’s a safe assumption that we’re all familiar with the cartoon Scooby-Doo. The beloved franchise was first created in 1969 by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for the Hanna-Barbera animated series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. The show followed teens Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and the talking Great Dane named Scooby-Doo as they traveled in the Mystery Machine van solving mysteries that were thought to be of supernatural nature, but often was a creep in disguise with a vile motive.

We’re seen many iterations of the characters from made for TV films, origin stories, and even live action adaptations. Now Saturday Night Live is putting their spin on Scooby-Doo. Over the weekend Jake Gyllenhaal served as host to close out SNL season 49 with musical guest Sabrina Carpenter. The pair starred in a Scooby-Doo inspired sketch as Fred and Daphne with SNL cast members Sarah Sherman and Mikey Day as Velma and Shaggy and Andrew Dismukes as the unmasked villain.

The mystery begins normal enough as the gang break down the case until Fred takes things a step further to discover what Old Man Franklin is really hiding and things go off the rails.
