Automatically I’m into the concept of “Thelma” because this has happened to so many older people in my life and it’s about time a film was made about it.

In the feature directorial debut of Josh Margolin, June Squibb stars in her first leading role as Thelma Post, a 93-year-old grandmother, who gets conned into forfeiting a large sum of money by a phone scammer pretending to her grandson (Fred Hechinger). Refusing to be a victim, Thelma sets off on a quest across Los Angeles with her friend (Richard Roundtree – in his final performance) to reclaim what was stolen from her. Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Nicole Byer, and Malcolm McDowell also star in “Thelma.”

“Thelma” comes to theaters on June 21, 2024.
