Ryan Gosling‘s role as Ken in the 2023 movie “Barbie” has been the gift that keeps giving. Gosling fully immersed himself into the role bringing Kenergy whenever he could and for his grand finale he left it all on the Oscars stage over the weekend.

The 2024 Oscars aired live on Sunday, March 10 with host Jimmy Kimmel. Throughout the show all the contenders for Best Original Song performed. Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt were nominated for “I’m Just Ken” and of course, Ryan brought the song to life in the film. As the final performer of the night, Gosling started the iconic performance in the audience behind his “Barbie” co-star Margot Robbie as he crooned “It doesn’t seem to matter what I do. I’m always number two. No one knows how hard I tried, Oh I.”

Dressed in bedazzled Barbie pink attire, Gosling was joined by other Kens including Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, and Scott Evans from the film and Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash to perform “I’m Just Ken” while paying homage to Marilyn Monroe’s “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” number from the 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”

Although the song lost to Billie Eilish and Finneas’ “What Was I Made For?” I can’t stress enough how amazing this performance was and how Ryan was the best part of the Oscars and remains the best part of “Barbie.”
