The first Monday in May is a major highlight of the year for the fashion world as the annual Met Gala event commences in New York City bringing together celebrities and fashion houses to raise money for the Metropolitan (Met) Museum of Art.
Fashion executive Anna Wintour is the editor-in-chief of Vogue and has chaired or co-chaired the Met Gala since 1995, so naturally, Anna and Vogue are usually a part of the event. Back on February 15, Vogue announced that Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth would co-chair this year’s Met Gala with a tweet that read, “Just in: This year, #BadBunny, @ChrisHemsworth, @jlo, @Zendaya, and Anna Wintour will serve as this year’s official #MetGala co-chairs! Tied to the aforementioned exhibition, the dress code is “The Garden of Time.”

And if you’re wondering, what exactly does a co-chair for the Met Gala do? They are tasked with being the faces of the event and will help with promoting, fundraising, and welcoming guests.
Each year a new exhibition is presented at the museum and a theme/dress code is then set in place to coexist with the gala. This year’s exhibition is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including some garments that have rarely been seen in public before making them “sleeping beauties.” The dress code is “The Garden of Time.”
While Bad Bunny, Zendaya, and Jennifer Lopez have attended the Met Gala several times before and have been showstoppers, this will be Chris Hemsworth first time ascending the infamous stairs of the Met. Other guests rumored to attend are Lily Rose Depp, Lizzo, Pete Davidson, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Halle Bailey, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway, Florence Pugh, Doja Cat, Ryan Gosling, Cardi B, Margot Robbie, Kim Kardashian, Sydney Sweeney, Tom Holland, Jeremy Allen White, Timothee Chalamet, and Harry Styles.
