Jimmy Kimmel Travels From Barbie Land to the Oscars with Weird Barbie in Promo Clip

It’s less than a month to go until the biggest night in Hollywood comes to viewers at home with the 96th Academy Awards aka the Oscars.

The night that celebrates the best in film is bringing back late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to host for the fourth time. In a promo, which many felt should have been the show’s opener because of how good it is, Kimmel gets lost in Barbie Land on the way to the Oscars. With Helen Mirren narrating (she also was the voice narrator in “Barbie“), Kimmel finds help going to Weird Barbie’s house aka Kate McKinnon.

McKinnon explains the route through the 2024 Best Pictures nominees which are “The Holdovers,” “American Fiction,” “The Zone of Interest,” “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Poor Things,” “Past Lives,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “Maestro,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Through the journey from Barbie Land to OscarsLand Kimmel couldn’t help but acknowledge his long-standing feud with Matt Damon.

After finally making it to the Oscars Jimmy felt a little self-conscious about hosting. Thankfully Academy Award Best Supporting Actress nominee America Ferrera was on hand to lend a version of her epic “Barbie” monologue to boost Jimmy up following Academy Award Best Supporting Actor nominee Ryan Gosling appearing in his “I’m Kenough” hoodie to wrap up the perfectly executed bit.

The 96th Oscars air on Sunday, March 10th, one hour earlier, at 7pm EST |4pm PST on ABC.
